Classification of roses:
The American Rose Society has a classification scheme that reflects both the botanical and evolutionary progress of the rose. There are three main groupings: Species (i.e. wild roses); Old Garden Roses (classes in existence before 1867); and Modern Roses (classes not in existence before 1867).
Part I/a. Underlying Structure
Part I/b. Two point perspective - roses
Part I/c. Sketch #1
Part I/d. Sketch #2
Part I/e. Sketch #3
- draw 5-10 structural sketches,
- draw a rose in 3 different views using two point perspective
- create value sketches with at least 3 different roses
Of course, if you'd like to do more than the minimum I ask for it's even better. The more you practice the better you get.
Reference photos will be emailed to you, but you can also use your own rose photos.
